News & Upcoming Projects
Stay up to date with what we're working on. These are planned features and projects — things may evolve as development progresses.
Leveling System Rework — Simpler, More Balanced RPG Experience
We've overhauled the leveling system from the ground up. The goal was to strip away the unnecessary complexity and deliver something that feels natural and rewarding — a clean RPG progression that anyone can pick up and enjoy without needing a spreadsheet to understand it.
The new system is designed around balance first. Progression feels meaningful at every stage, not just at the end, and we've made sure no single path dominates over others.
Whether you're a new player finding your footing or a veteran pushing for the top, the updated leveling curve should feel fair and engaging throughout.
Playtime Rewards — Rewarding Active Play, Not Idling
We've reworked the playtime reward system to better reflect how we want the economy to feel. Previously, rewards were tied mostly to time spent online — which ended up encouraging players to just sit idle rather than actually engage with the server.
The new system shifts focus toward active participation — jobs, trading, and other in-game activities are now the primary ways to earn. Playtime rewards still exist, but they're no longer the main income source.
This change is part of a broader push to make the economy feel alive and player-driven, rather than something you passively accumulate by leaving the game open.
Jobs Overhaul — Buffed Payouts & New Crafting Job
All existing jobs have received a coin payout buff. We felt the previous rates weren't rewarding enough for the time invested, so we've adjusted them across the board to make jobs a genuinely worthwhile way to earn money.
We've also added a brand new job: Crafting. The amount you earn scales with the tier of the item you craft — the more advanced the recipe, the better the payout. It's a natural fit for players who love spending time at the workbench.
Between the buffed rates and the new Crafting job, there are now more viable paths to building wealth in-game. Find the playstyle that suits you and get paid for it.
Voting System Rework — Keys, Crates & Better Rewards
The voting reward system has been completely reworked. Instead of receiving a fixed reward every time you vote, you'll now earn a Vote Key.
Take your key to the Crate at spawn and crack it open — inside you'll find a range of rewards, with a chance at prizes far better than what the old fixed system ever offered.
This adds a layer of excitement to voting and gives dedicated voters the chance to land something really valuable. The more you vote, the more chances you get.
Loot Bags — Currently in Development
We're currently working on a loot bag system. The core logic is being built out right now, along with the loot tables themselves — figuring out what goes inside and how valuable each bag should feel.
We're still deciding on the distribution method: whether loot bags drop from monsters, serve as event rewards, or a mix of both. Expect more details once the design is locked in.
This is an active work-in-progress, so things may shift as development continues. We'll keep you posted.
Quest Giver NPCs — Coming to the World of Orbis
Quest Giver NPCs are also in active development. These will be characters scattered across the world that hand out quests, giving players structured goals to work toward beyond the usual grind.
We're still in the implementation phase, but the vision is to have NPCs that feel like a natural part of the world — not just floating menus, but characters with purpose tied to the lore of Orbis.
More details on quest types, rewards, and NPC locations will come as the system takes shape. Stay tuned.
Free StreamDeck Profile — Released by John Mack
Tired of typing out commands every time? John Mack has put together a free StreamDeck profile for Heir of Gaia that gives you one-button access to the most common everyday commands — no more forgetting syntax or hunting through chat history.
The profile is already live and available for free. Just download it, load it into your StreamDeck app, and you're good to go.
Whether you're managing your homes, checking jobs, or opening menus, this profile is designed to make your session smoother and let you focus on actually playing.
Pet System — Coming to Heir of Gaia
We're excited to share that we're planning to introduce a pet system to the server. Pets will be companions that follow you around the world and add a personal touch to your experience.
We're planning to offer a selection of pets available to all players, with exclusive and premium pets reserved for our donator ranks as a thank-you for supporting the server.
More details on which pets will be available, how to obtain them, and what donator-exclusive options will look like are still being worked out. We'll share more as the project takes shape — stay tuned.
Mount System — Custom Rides Are on the Way
One of our bigger upcoming projects is a full mount system. We want to give players the ability to ride custom mounts across the world of Orbis, and we're approaching this from two directions.
We'll be pulling in mounts from an existing mod as a foundation, while also developing our own home-made custom mounts unique to Heir of Gaia.
The goal is to have a varied roster — some familiar, some completely original. Our custom mounts will be designed specifically for the server's lore and aesthetic, so expect something you won't find anywhere else.
This is still in early planning, but it's a project we're genuinely excited about. More updates will follow as development moves forward.
Economy & NPC Shops — Building a Healthy Market
Getting the economy right is one of our top priorities. Our long-term vision is a player-driven market where trading between players is the main way to earn and spend money — but we know that takes time to develop organically.
To give players a reliable way to earn money during the early phase of the server, we're implementing NPC shops with fixed buy and sell prices. We're currently building out a price list to make sure trading feels fair and balanced from day one.
We want the NPC shops to act as a safety net, not a shortcut — prices will be set to encourage player-to-player trading while still giving everyone a way to get started and work toward their rank progression.
We're open to suggestions on this. If you have thoughts on pricing, items, or how the economy should work, feel free to reach out on Discord. Community input will help us get this right.
